This could crash and burn.

It might be magic. Or chaos. Either way, I’d love for you to join me.

I don’t know what makes me think that starting a newsletter right now is a great idea?!?

Confession: I’m great at starting things… it’s the finishing where I tend to fizzle (or get wildly distracted). That’s usually when things get complicated; and I quietly disappear.

As I sit here, 2 months postpartum, with 3 other kids raising themselves… it feels like the walls are falling down around me. But, this newsletter has been on my heart for a while - and it’s much easier than a podcast, right?

Tabitha Talks is a new (and more personal) space. It’s not just book news.

Truth is, I get hundreds of messages on Instagram each week (sometimes in a day)! I’d love to answer each one, but I just can’t. This is where I’ll share weekly thoughts on early language development, parenting tips, screen time sanity, and little things that make big moments — with the occasional behind-the-scenes peek at life around here.

In this newsletter, I hope to share:

  • 🗣️ Language & early learning tips from a speech therapist- most asked questions from moms (suggestions from me.. and maybe a few other guests).

  • 📺️ My recommendations (products, screen time, weird healthy stuff, etc)

  • 📖 Additional behind the scenes of my books and life as a creative (it’s super glamorous… not!)

  • 🕊️ And maybe some random musings (like when my 8-year-old saved us from attack geese with a one in a million shot!).

These past few weeks in a minute:

Truthfully, it’s been a really difficult postpartum season - colic, nursing, birth trauma, you name it. Now, add in a random allergic reaction for my 3-year-old and trip to the ER last week 😓. I feel confined to my bedroom. Like I’m missing out on the world. I hope some of y’all can relate. But there are super sweet moments as well (watching all four kids interact and grow in different stages). And I know that God has purpose for me in this season. Sidenote: I’ve been LOVING my Pranamat to help my body recover and relax (especially with being hunched over nursing for hours of the day).

There is a lot of new life on the farm… We got some new baby goslings that are growing fast, and then a batch of chicks 🐣 … then another batch 🐥 … and maybe 5 more 🐤 (we are up to 13 chicks and 2 goslings now… time to add on to the coop!)

And I had a new book release a couple of weeks ago (that marks my 10th children’s book- this is wild y’all 🤯… I could have never dreamed this). Check it out here if you have a little athlete in the family.

Involve siblings early! Narrate what baby SEES, HEARS, and FEELS…“Look, I’m touching her toes!” Modeling rich, simple language helps older kids support baby’s development too. As they copy your words and actions, everyone’s communication skills grow. Siblings make incredible little teachers!

We’re pretty restrictive of television, but in moderation, we’re big fans of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. It is a super fun show for littles and mediums…

We would love a pool y’all, but that’s not in the cards right now. Texas is heating up fast, we’re 25 minutes from the city- I’m not about to take my whole crew to a local pool. Enter the inflatable water slide (we would have been kings and queens 👑 of the neighborhood if we had this in my day, right?!?)

We literally spend DAYS outside in this thing. Over the past 5 years, we have had both the double slide and single slide versions and loved them both. In reality, I expect this thing to last 2-4 years (depending on how rough the kids and/ or husband is and how well you dry and store it) - but it is SOOO worth it!
